We encourage behaviour that helps church people to consider the ethics and responsibilities required of them. We also ensure help is available to those who have been harmed by other people’s unethical or unsafe behaviour.<\/p>\r\n

Internal Audit<\/h3>\r\n

This function has been created to provide professional expertise to congregations, presbyteries and UnitingCare agencies to support them in fulfilling their stewardship responsibilities in relation to financial and risk management.<\/p>\r\n

Pew Sheets<\/h3>\r\n

Each month we produce pew sheets containing personal reflections for churches to distribute at each service. Some congregations highlight local acts of generosity on the underside, others photocopy the sheets and insert them into their current material.<\/p>\r\n

Risk & Insurance<\/h3>\r\n

This unit manages the insurance program for congregations, schools, camps, AgeWell, UnitingCare and other church agencies. It also manages all claims and negotiates on behalf of its clients all settlements to their best advantage.<\/p>\r\n

Accounting Services<\/h3>\r\n

Our professional, helpful and service-orientated unit provides a range of reliable and accurate financial information to and on behalf of the Synod. Among other things, it ensures users comply with all applicable regulations and directives.<\/p>\r\n

Donations & Bequests<\/h3>\r\n

Bequests are critical to the work we do, helping us with education, social justice, community support and continuing our faith and mission. After providing for your family, a bequest is a special way of ensuring the mission of the Church is sustained.<\/p>\r\n

Legal Services<\/h3>\r\n

Our Legal office works with the Property Trust to ensure the Synod has comprehensive legal expertise to serve the needs of the Church. The office provides advice and assistance at a reasonable fee-for-service basis.<\/p>\r\n

Synod Archives<\/h3>\r\n

The Victorian archives were established in 1977 to be a central repository for the Synod’s historical records. The Wesley Hobart Museum was established in 1927 as a memorial to the departed trustees.<\/p>\r\n

Grants<\/h3>\r\n

We offer a range of grants to individuals, congregations, Presbyteries and affiliated agencies. There are three categories of grants: educational, annual and financial and all have specific qualifying criteria, processes and requirements.<\/p>\r\n

Occupational Health & Safety<\/h3>\r\n

It is easy to think of the Synod Office or the local Uniting Care facility as a workplace. Church facilities and worship centres are also workplaces because paid employees work from these buildings. OH&S is required both legally and ethically.<\/p>\r\n

Terms of Placement Committee<\/h3>\r\n

Provides dedicated resources and information for those carrying out ministry within the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria and Tasmania.<\/p>\r\n
